Karen Grace-Baker is the CEO of Right College ChoiceTM, her educational consulting firm. For the past ten years, she has successfully guided students through the college admissions process, succeeding in gaining entry to colleges and universities, including highly selective and Ivy League universities and graduate schools. She holds a BA (Boston College), an MBA (Atlanta University), and a College Counseling Certificate (UC San Diego). Karen is a consummate advocate for equity and access with a passion and commitment to working with underserved populations stemming from her background as a first-generation student. She is the first of seven children in her family to graduate from college and graduate school.
Previously, Karen spent 15+ years as a marketing executive with Fortune 500 companies, including General Mills/Pillsbury, Walt Disney, and Sony Music.
Karen teaches in the College Counseling Certificate program at UCLA Extension. She has conducted numerous workshops and seminars at professional conferences and has published in journals on college readiness and persistence topics.
Karen previously served on the Board of Trustees for a Los Angeles independent school (Hollywood Schoolhouse) and the Advisory Board for UCLA Extension.
She currently serves as the Board Chair and Interim Executive Director of the nonprofit, ScholarMatch. Karen also serves on the Advisory Board for LEAD Business and is a long-time member of NACAC and MACAC.
Karen enjoys traveling, power walking, and collecting art and has completed two marathons and two half marathons. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and spending family time with her husband, a physician educator. She is the proud mother of two daughters, a marketing executive for a consumer goods company (Stanford ’13, Wharton MBA ’18), and a policy advisor and future attorney ( Yale ’17, Yale Law School ’24).
